Nestled in the heart of Overland Park, Ricco's Italian Bistro serves up an authentic Italian dining experience that delights the senses from the very first bite. This charming bistro offers a diverse menu brimming with traditional classics and inventive specialties that celebrate the vibrant flavors of Italy. Whether you're craving rich, comforting pastas or a perfectly crisp, wood-fired pizza, Ricco's promises a satisfying culinary journey.
The menu shines with standout dishes such as the Fettuccine Diavolo, where tender chicken and spicy Italian sausage are tossed in a lively red marinara sauce, delivering just the right amount of kick that keeps diners coming back for more. Fans of creamy decadence will adore the Chicken Artichoke Ling, chicken gently sautéed with artichokes and tomatoes in a delicate white wine sauce, paired perfectly with a fresh house salad. For those who lean toward seafood, the Shrimp Scampi Linguine and Mushroom Risotto with Scallops offer beautifully balanced flavors with luxurious textures.
Pizza lovers won't be disappointed with Ricco's inventive combinations. The signature Garbage Truck Pizza layers rich Ricco’s marinara, provolone, mozzarella, savory pepperoni, and Italian sausage with fresh mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, baked to bubbling perfection. If you prefer something lighter and herbaceous, the Artie and Basil Pizza featuring pesto, grilled chicken, and artichokes offers a fresh, aromatic twist. The crust boasts a pleasing chew that some might find reminiscent of a prepped dough, but its combination with high-quality toppings more than compensates.
Beyond the entrees, Ricco's culinary prowess extends to starters and desserts that are just as compelling. The Bruschetta is praised for its fresh, vibrant toppings and expertly toasted bread, an appetizer that truly wakes up the palate. For a sweet conclusion, the Tiramisu and Cannoli embody the essence of Italian desserts—rich, creamy, and indulgently satisfying. Several diners have even hailed Ricco’s tiramisu as the best in the Kansas City area, making it a must-try.
The dining atmosphere at Ricco’s Italian Bistro exudes a warm, welcoming vibe, perfect for both intimate dinners and larger celebrations. The service, while noted to vary, often earns high marks for friendliness and attentiveness, with servers like Breven standing out by offering thoughtful recommendations like the delectable carrot cake.

The food is amazing, flavorful and fresh every time! The Fettuccine Diavolo is the perfect amount of spice, and the flavors are just outstanding! Breven, our server was absolutely amazing as well! Can’t wait to go back! And Breven recommended the carrot cake, and boy is it good!
I had the mushroom risotto and shrimp, my girl ordered the special pasta dish of the night. All the food was amazing. My girl is still raving about the Italian Wedding soup. Service? Meh... Our server seemed very distracted. No refills, no grated parmesan and broght me scallops instead of shrimp. She did realize the mistake before I said anything and came back another risotto with the shrimp. Great catch on her part. She still charged me for the scallops instead of shrimp. It's only $2 but it's principle. I shouldn't have given my card before looking at the bill. I didn't contest the bill and just signed anyway. My first experience at Ricco's: Excellent food, perfect ambiance, could compete with any restaurant I ate at in Rome. My server? Meh.
The pitzzas are ok "the drinks are good, brusketa I give it 9 out of 10, the pasta was ok very cooked for my taste , the taste is very good I do not give 5 stars because the pittza looked like precooked dough , the tiramisu is the best tiramisu of all kc .
Had a table of 13 for a birthday dinner! Great service on getting our drinks, appetiser, our entrees and desserts to go. They were fast and constantly checking on us. Food and drink drinks were amazing.
We sat at the bar and had a great experience! Highly recommend the Torte appetizer. The wood-fired pizza was fantastic as was the coconut chicken salad. The ambiance was very cozy and the service was great!
Restaurant was good enough for me to take the time to write a review. Well I shouldn't put it like that... Maddy was so delightful as a server. Her interactions with the other tables brought a smile to my face. She hyped the dishes ordered. Definitely a team player. I really had no choice but to review. The food is also good. The spicy pink sauce (Maddy's recommendation after asking if I like spicy) I had with the chicken parm was good. Will come again to try a baked pasta or an Alfredo sauce dish. Also atmosphere/decor is suitable for date night or celebration.
I wasn’t prepared for how great this experience and food was going to be! I didn’t take any pictures, but the service and food were phenomenal. Do NOT pass up on the calamari, the pesto & goat cheese dip was phenomenal. As soon as we finished our last bite of this, we had salads then garlic bread. The bread was heavenly: For our entrees, I did the chicken Florentine and the hubby did the shrimp fettuccini Alfredo. Both were exquisite, warm & so satisfying. Our waitress, Sarah, was excellent with great timing, personality and warmth. Highly recommend this spot!
Busy, friendly and fun Italian restaurant. Came in alone and sat at the only available spot at the bar on a Thursday evening. Service was friendly and punctual. The bartenders were always in motion, but had time to exchange some banter with their patrons. Ordered the baked penne with Italian sausage and a half order of garlic bread. It came with a side salad, all dressings are made in house. The raspberry vinaigrette was good, salad was well made but not spectacular. Garlic bread was god and came with marinara sauce for dipping. The penne was very good. The dish was well balanced with noodles, sauce and cheese. The sausage was made from links, the kitchen went the extra mile and cut each section into fourths. This way there was almost a bite of sausage with each fork-full. Very much enjoyed the dish.
